The Tri-series would have feautred South Africa and Sri Lanka was cancelled due to the South African team backing down and returning home due to security concerns. The bilateral series will now start tomorrow as todays match was washed out.

He also added the Indian team had a good chance and they have been training very well. We have done good preparations in the last three days. Obviously, there was rain and other things (bomb blasts) but we are ready for the first game tomorrow”, said Yuvraj.

Yuvraj is well aware that the team has not done well in Sri Lanka versus the host specially and is going to work hard to rectify that. “We are well aware of our record in Sri Lanka. The last time we came here we committed some mistakes,’ he said referring to the defeat in the final of the triangular series in August last year.” commented Singh.

Yuvraj has scored 795 runs at a superb average of 61.15 from his last 17 ODI matches, which by any standards is an excellent return. He is in number 4th behind 3 Srilankan batsmen who have had a great England tour, Kumar Sangakarra , Mahela Jayawardene and Sanath Teran Jayasuriya.

There is no doubting that Yuvraj has now become an integral part of the Indian cricket team. India now heavily depends on the contribution of this young star from Punjab.

When asked about his performance in the series, Yuvraj said ” It’s very difficult to maintain the same momentum throughout the year. You are bound to have ups and downs. I think I had a decent one-day series and I hope to get big runs in the remaining three Tests. I always want to do well in Test cricket. That’s my goal at the moment and if I can do that then it will be a good tour for me.”

Yuvraj had a pleasant conversation with the reporter from mid day, they even asked him how it feels to play in the carribean. To that Yuvraj replied, “It’s a great experience. Every centre you go to, there are different wickets. People come here to watch cricket. It’s not like India where they are happy when the team wins and start abusing when the team loses.”
